One of the most terrific ways to get PR - Link Building

A. Inbound, one-way text links using good anchor text are your goal from an SEO perspective.

B. Do not sweat page rank on the page linking to you.

C. Do sweat that each page/site is topically related to you

D. Try for these "golden boy" links from the major players in your topical category - better 10 inbounds from related topic sites with a PR of zero, than 100 inbounds from unrelated, PR8 sites. (Think long-term when building links)

E. One-way links are better than reciprocal links

F. Most sites will ask for a reciprocal

G. Reciprocals are fine, but make sure where you are linking to offers something of value for your users

H. Reciprocals can be good to bring in traffic - just be careful to take a look at whose link to them - bad neighbors are not good...

I. Avoid three-way or triangular linking - its crap and the engines assign no value to that junk anyway

J. Set a budget - get listed in the major directories with the correct categories.

K. When approaching webmasters for a link request, show them respect and be patient. Use a professional approach and respect their right to ignore you completely - just move on. Send them an e-mail, make an effort to track down a contact name for the site and address it to a person. Follow up about a week later - leave it alone after that.

L. Vary the anchor text in the text link and vary where users land - don't just use your site's name and drop everyone to the index page, in other words. Use keywords to direct people to relevant content within your site.

M. Avoid link exchange programs, link farms, etc.

N. Buying links is fine, but the engines like long-term links, so after a few months of paying, when you decide you're done, the link disappears - so goes any value. Plus, the engines are getting savvy to how & where folks buy links these days. Buy links for traffic, not SEO.

O. Avoid site-wide links, too - some places offer to put your link into their navigation bar and spread it across all their site's pages - Google, etc. discount any value from these - do this enough and you might trigger a link spam trigger, too...

Promote site through TITLE Tags

A. By Discount with Title Tag

Are there ways you could work "discounts" into your title?

Example: Assuming you were selling movies

Movie rentals - Rent 7 movies for 7 days at one low price!
Movie rentals - Save 20% on all classic movies

By moving a discount into the title, you could compel more response.

B. Question with Title tag

Turn some of your titles into a question.

Asking a question is a great attention getter.

-Where on earth would you go if you had your pilot license?
-What would you do if your career was terminated?
-When should you submit your web pages?

By asking a question, you create more response because it makes the reader think.

C. Client’s testimonial with Title tag

Is there a place you could lift a testimonial to the Title?

These usually are focused on improved results.

-Download your programs 84% FASTER with Download Magic -Improve your memory by 200% with flash cards -Sharp ways to find more new customers than ever before!

You may generate more response because it puts a benefit right into the search results.

D. Title with Numbers

Try using "numbers" at some point in your title where a selection is involved.

Some people seem to like the idea that they a selection to choose from.

Example:
Shower curtains - Over 88 different designs just arrived!
Bathroom shower curtains - Over 12 different Warner brothers themes.
Some people will respond to numbered titles.
